Final Update

Home again for Daddy, Uncle Bill, Grampaa or Bill !  It was a very warm day like 95 much more as to how it felt (100+) so AC is most welcomed.

He is doing fine..I think better than before. There is no pain so that is the first huge plus.  Both hips are now replaced and one knee has been cleaned of debris so why should he have pain.  He will need to get used the both hips working but had wonderful therapy in the Transitional Unit. He is independent...goes up stairs, takes showers, dresses himself, puts on shoes and those support hose all by himself.  My biggest job is cooking again.

Home Care therapist is coming tomorrow to start a 3 week program of 3 times a week guidance on exercises.  Last time he was extremely faithful and saw that it did pay off so know it will be a ditto proceedure.

Want to again thank each and every one of you for your support in any way,,,cards, visits, calls but most of all Prayers.  Pray is the key and again he would not be as good as he is without ALL of them.
There is only one more adjustment to be made..In Sept he will have carpal tunnel out-patient surgery on right wrist.  No hospital but will have therapy.  With 5 surgeries in 18 months, I really can't think of anything else that needs to be done.
Love to all, Mama, Aunt Mary Ethel, Gramma, or Mary Ethel

Update 07-09-2008

Bill did make it to the Transitional Care Unit of Flagler Hospital. He got there today (thanks, Beryl, for helping him).  Very happy and they have him in therapy already with more to come tomorrow.  Walks with walker and attending nurse.  It is such a great place that we thank you for your Prayers and God for answering them.

He will be there a week or ten days depending on how he is able to handle two new hips.  Appetite is great an looks better than he did before.  Tomorrow is big day as he will get his first shower since Tues. You would think it is ole home week for him as he greets all the nurses he had 12 weeks ago. AND they are glad to see him, too.

There won't be much additional news other than time to heal and keep up the exercises.  I will let you hear of any changes and when he goes home. Appreciate your prayers and our concern for him.  God Bless ya'll

Love Mary Ethel

Bill did just as well as before with this left hip replacement. Surgery was not as long but this was only hip and no knee.  He was in surgical unit still sleepy when I left at 2:30 this afternoon.  They again said problem could be with blood clot or infection.  All vitatals will be checked every two hours day and night til he goes to rehab.  Again we want him to go to same Transitional Care Unit and repeat proceedure done on right hip.  He is still pain free with right hip and our prayers are that left will be a ditto.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.  I'll keep you updated with any change.  It has to be a win-win situatuation with a support group like YOU.
Love to all,

Mary Ethel

Bill is one amazing man. To go through this twice and still be positive is amazing.
Good luck on a successful recovery.
