I am glad I got to visit Uncle Ed before he died. He is the only one who always called me Carol Ruth, I will miss him, he was a good man.

I would like to thank all of you who have sent me wonderful emails with love. John and I were at Ricou's house when we heard about Daddy. That helped, having Ricou with us. I know that the choir did a fine job and Lelia must have sang so beautifully. I talked to Dan before the funeral. He is always so kind to us all. Daddy did love so many people. I can especially remember how much he loved Uncle Reese and Paul Stanley. They could do no wrong in his eyes. He was also especially fond of Rodney and Lesley. I know that he loved all his grandchildren very much. I have fond memories of Rodney as a baby looking for treats in Daddy's shirt pocket. Daddy always had one there. Thanks to all of you who were able to make the service. I picture Daddy and Mother together now.

The picture of little Wes pushing his great grandpa down hallway says it all Please enlarge it. Daddy loved children so much.
We have been gone all day long taking care of final arrangements.
The hardest task was saying goodbye to his roommate Loomis Sellers.
He really loved daddy and daddy not only loved him, but was so dependent on Loomis. He said he could not have had a better roommate than daddy.
Thanks to all of you for support, and concern for him and his family. we will write stories later about him. Love, anne

Uncle Ed
Uncle Reese and I went to see Ed several times while he was in the nursing home. During one of these visits, Ed demonstrated that his sense of humor was still intact. Reese, trying to be upbeat about the situation, said "this is really a nice place. Do you think I could get in." Ed hesitated only slightly before saying with just the hint of a smile "no - - - no Reese they wouldn't take you. You're too old."

Daddy really was proud of his outfit, the 208th Engineers Combat battalion.

A guy sent me an E-copy of the U.S.Army history of the Battalion. It is too long to read it all but they really were in lots of combat.
Amazing all they did.

Remembering Edwin
When I was in Walton High and there was a night event for my class, Edwin and Carrie offered me a room and the keys to their Model A Ford for the occasion. I recall going hunting with him and Tommie Lee\'s husband, Thomas Nolin. Later Ed and I worked on the swing shift at Wainwright Yard under Thomas\'s leadership. So sorry that we won\'t be able to go to his service, but so thankful that he was at the Padgett Reunion in June. I hope that his military record will be noted at the service.

Uncle Ed
Well, really bad news. Uncle Ed used to come by quite a bit when we lived in Defuniak Springs. Sometimes he would take me with him when he did some of his running around town. He knew where there was an orange tree (could have been a satsuma) and would take me by there to get one sometimes. I thought that was a big treat. There was also had a pomegranate tree there and he gave me my first one of those. That was a pretty interesting fruit for a 5 year old.

So Sorry for David, Anne, Roger, and Evelyn they are in our prayers here.

Uncle Ed
Uncle Ed always made me feel important, even though I was one of many nieces and nephews. He would always tell it like it is and was a very dear person and Uncle. He will be sorely missed.

I'm sorry I didn't get to the reunion.
I loved Ed. I wish I had gotten up there to see him before he died.
I am glad he and Carrie's toombstones are beside Uncle Curry and Aunt Cora Lee's.
